Down Town Piraeus earlier this afternoon, at its Akti Miaouli premises, Apostolos Poulovassilis, EMEA regional manager, together with the management and staff of Lloyd’s Register Piraeus and members from the society’s UK head quarters, entertained over 300 guests with modesty, tradition and shipping style.
A good chance to meet many members of the Piraeus shipping fraternity – clients and friends from the past: coast guard officers, lawyers, marine engineers and naval architects, shipowners, shipmanagers, surveyors, members of maritime associations and organisations. Who wasn’t there! Here are some of those who were: Christophoros E. Andreades from Golden Union, Nikos Pappas and Alex Scaramangas from Resolute Maritime Services, Captain Panagiotis N. Tsakos from the Tsakos Group, George Maghioros from Shipcare Marine Consultants, Tassos Papazoglou from P & P Shipping Co., George Zoupas, Radm Antonis Papaioannou and members from his Diaplous team.
Radm Antonis J. Kaloudis from the union of cruise shipowners and associate members, Radm Christos Delimichalis, Radm S. Zeimbekis, Lazaros J. Rigos from John J. Rigos Marine Enetrprises, Kostas Datsios from Atermon Marine Ltd., Triantafylos Giavrides from the Giavrides Group, Zenon Kleopas from Star Bulk, Radm Thimio Lymberopoulos and his son from Libero Services, Majestic Cruises Theo Kontes, Natasha Vassilakis, Dr. Panos Nomikos from Danaos, shipbroker Denis Vernadakis, Gregory Papadakis and his team, Harry Petrakakos, Mauro Renaldi of V Ships, lawyer Ifigenia Tsalou, consultant John Iakovides, Posidonia’s events Theodore N. Vokos, George Bissias from Naftika Chronika with Christina Margellou, fellow journalists Demetra Vlachou and Petros Diplas, Dimitris Monioudis from R & K and president of the HESGB, George Kleonakos from Libra Group Services, Semi S. Palios from Diana Shipping Services and many many others.
A very vibrant event with networking at its best! Excellent organisational skills by Kika L. Lazaridou and Annita Patargia with their respective teams providing the best class can buy… epitomised for the occasion by nice dips – meze in Greek and drinks. All guests received their traditional Christmas gift taking the form of memorabilia, an interesting LR Group Review for 2013 – a lot to study tonight; and a practical desk calendar; there is no doubt that 2014 will be an interesting year for the shipping world, to put it mildly.
We managed to get a short interview with Apostolos Poulovassilis on the society’s progress, targets and new logo; log on herebelow to listen:
