Τhe city of Heraklion in Crete is the next stop of the Marine Environment and Sciences Awareness Campaign, which HELMEPA is implementing across 12 Greek cities with the financial support of Lloyd’s Register Foundation (the Foundation)*.
The Campaign consists of an environmental Exhibition, a Workshop and student voluntary activities to be implemented between Tuesday 4th and Friday 14th March 2014, under the auspices of the Municipality of Heraklion.
The environmental Exhibition titled “Marine Environment, Shipping and Sciences”, will be hosted at the famous Basilica of Saint Mark in Heraklion. In cooperation with the local Directorates for Primary and Secondary Education, 1, 100 students from schools of Heraklion and the wider area will visit the Exhibit, with costs covered by the Program.
The Exhibition will also be open to members of the public on weekdays between 6:00pm and 8:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 1:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
A Workshop titled “Environmental education and prevention of marine litter” will be held on Tuesday 11th March from 5:00pm at the Municipality’s “Androgeo” Auditorium. Following its conclusion, participants will have the opportunity to visit HELMEPA’s environmental Exhibition at the nearby Basilica of Saint Mark.
