Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race 43ft (Heat 3)
Dubai International Marine Club has organised the final heat of “Dubai
Traditional Dhow Sailing Race 43ft (Heat 3)” at 13.30 on Saturday, April 5,
2014.
The details are as below:
Estimated number of boats: 75
Standard length: 43 ft
Number of crew on board: 14 crew on each boat.
Racing Area: Between Jebel Ali Power Station and Palm Deira. The exact
location of the race area will be determined on the race day, which will
depend on the prevailing weather conditions.
Time and Date: between 12:30 – 16:00 hours LT on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
All vessels operating between Jebel Ali power station and Palm Deira are
advised to keep the area clear in good time….
…All VTS (Hamriyah port, Khor Dubai, Port Rashid, Fishing Harbours and
Jabal Ali POrt) are requested to advise vessels accordingly.

Towage service tariff to increase
Following a recent tariff review for towage services for Port Kembla,
Svitzer Australia have announced that the tariff will increase by 6-10%
(depending on GRT band).
There will also be an ‘ad hoc’ tariff for bookings made within 24 hours of
booking time, and a “3rd Tug Surcharge” will be implemented in addition to
the applicable rate per tug.
A Volume Based Surcharge (VBS) will also be brought into effect, to be
reviewed every 6 months. This will be based on a requirement for 4, 472 tug
jobs per annum in the port, and if the annual volume varies by +/-5%, the
VBS will be adjusted accordingly.

Earthquake north-east of Iquique
At 20:45 hours local time yesterday (1 April), an earthquake measuring 8.2
on the Richter Scale occurred with its epicentre detected about 90 km
north-east of Iquique.
A Tsunami Warning covering all Chilean territory was activated, but was
cancelled at 06:00 hours local time this morning.
Operations have been reestablished in all ports except Arica, Iquique and
Mejillones in the north where activities are expected to resume druing the
course of the day.
