Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne rises in Roscoff

by admin

TDF 15july2016Troussel, Guilmin, Iehl and Richard have been crowned kings of Act 3 in Roscoff. After their victory in yesterday coastal race, they are confirming with another win in today’s inshore races to reduce Team Lorina Limonade’s lead overall.

« Today reminded us match-racing time. It was the same intensity. The same reactions. And since we had two match-racing specialists onboard with Damien Iehl and Mathieu Richard, we made the difference »,  said Credit Mutuel de Bretagne trimmer Fred Guilmin. « We are sailing on our home waters so it was nice to win again. Lorina Limonade Golfe du Morbihan started the Tour really well. Now it’s up to us to fight back. We are still six points behind them, so it will be a fierce fight ».

Light and fluky winds only gave the 24 boats the chance to sail four qualifying races before the grand final at 3.45pm. And these new conditions also changed the game on the race course, with new teams standing out. Like the young and amateur squad of Team Lorina Mojito – Golfe du Morbihan, who win their grand final qualification in the fourth and last race and ended up stepping on the podium.

« We are so happy with this third place. So far we were quite consistent, between 5th and 10th place, but never quite managed to perform », said Solune Robert, helmsman onboard Lorina Mojito. « Our objective in this Tour is to win the Young and Amateur rankings but in Dunkirk we had a bad start by being disqualified in the coastal race for not rounding a mark the proper way, whilst we were in 5th position. We are still a few points behind our lain rivals Natixis and Team France Jeune who are very good too, but we will do our best to catch them up and win at the end».

Their ‘big brothers’ Lorina Limonade are still leading the event overall as they are now moving to their home waters the Gulf of Morbihan for Act 4 starting tomorrow with a coastal race in light winds around ‘l’île aux Moines’.

« Congratulations to CMB who did a fantastic leg in Roscoff »,  said Lorina Limonade’s co-skipper Quentin Delapierre. « Now it’s going to be very hot in Baden, as we will be at home ! This is where I learned to sail with Matthieu so it will be nice to sail in the bay of our Cata School ! »
