International maritime charity Sailors’ Society has three crisis response networks which help those affected by traumas at sea.
The tragedy comes the day after the thirtieth anniversary of another Filipino ferry disaster.
MV Doña Paz collided with an oil tanker on 20 December 1987, with the loss of more than 4,000 lives.
Sailors’ Society’s CEO Stuart Rivers said, “We are monitoring the situation as it develops and our trained crisis responders in the Philippines are on standby to offer support to those affected by this tragedy.”
