The BDI ended the day with nine points plus thanks once again to the Capers as all other indices dive. Geopolitics including the world economy in tatters; John Faraclas’ daily briefing:
The Capers’ volatile “surge” continued and the BCI gained 84 points and now stands at 1,662… Still: one size cannot dictate the or a market – whichever way you like it..!
All other Dry Indices fell: the Panamaxes BPI down at 1,263 – lost 30 points..; the Supras’ BSI lost 11 points now reading 833 and the Handies’ BHSI lost three, now standing at 529 points. C A U T I O N !!!
The Wets remain stack; the last published BDTI and BCTI stood at 648 – no change and 614 – minus one point respectively. CAUTION here too…
Let’s wait the last excuse on the Market’s “status”, so we can then clearly see what’s up after the Chinese Dog barks after the 16th of February…
The WTI as these lines ae written was close to US$ 60.50… Let’s hope it goes beyond the US$ 60 mark to relieve the poor masses all over Planet Ocean…
The Stock Markets, particularly the main ones had one more bad day with Dow Jones falling down to 23,860 – just over 1,000 points since yesterday… FTSE and DAX as well as the Far East had substantial losses… The currency was now begins!
As said in the preamble, the Geopolitical situation gets worse all the time and I am afraid we will have to face the thinkable Unthinkable. Reality begins to bite!
On another tone the 9th Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum in Athens on Opportunities & Challenges, was more than a success to all intents and purposes.
Finally, and as you have read on another post earlier on today, Theodore El. Veniamis has been re-elected as president of the UGS (Union of Greek Shipowners) for a fourth term! Veniamis, a “master” of the shipping industry in his own right, has not only defended Greek Shipping to all intents and purposes, but also together with fellow members at UGS supports charity developments to support all those Greeks in need who suffer with the “Syn-Enosis” vehicle so to speak in these turbulent days the Greeks go through following the financial collapse of this nation… We wish him and his board Best!
That’s all for today, have a nice evening and be on guard for any eventuality emanating from Pirates and Terrorists wherever you ae on Planet Ocean!
