Αn information paper based on data provided to the GSCC by IHS Markit

For the 32nd consecutive year the GSCC presents statistical data, in the form of 11 tables on Greek controlled ships over 1,000 GT, registered under the Greek and other flags. The data has been provided by IHS Markit. The following is a short analysis, prepared by the Secretariat, of the data provided.

Information from Table 1, compared with corresponding data from the previous year, shows that, during the year to 6th of March, 2019, the Greek controlled fleet has decreased slightly in terms of number of vessels, DWT and GT. According to the data, as of 06.03.2019, Greek interests controlled 4,017 vessels of various categories, of 339,549,357 total DWT and 198,164,080 total GT. Compared with the previous year’s data, this represents a decrease of 131 vessels, 2,376,000 DWT and 1,121,933 GT. The figures include 156 vessels of various categories on order from shipyards, a total of 17,219,847 DWT and 11,811,076 GT.
