Volatility knocks with Capes’ fall

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 63 points earlier on today “thanks” to the as ever volatile Capes who lost 153 points. Geopolitics continue to deteriorate… John Faraclas’ midweek recap:

The BDI was down at 2,053 points and if same goes below the 2,000 mark that will be detrimental for all in the Markets – both Dries and Wets!

The Capes triple digit fall brought the BCI down to 3,829 points… CAUTION!

The Panamaxes just on …“even keel” with the BPI down to 1,900 – minus 39 points…

The Supras’ BSI lost a dozen points and now stands at 1,282…

Two valuable points for the Handies’ BHSI now at 692 – still at the same levels of nearly a week now…

The Wets on the up but with minimal changes; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 850 – plus one and 464 – plus four points respectively.

The WTI was down 80 cents to US$ 56.49…still high as we have explained many times vis-à-vis the wellbeing of 7 (seven) billion people directly affected…

As said Geopolitics continue to deteriorate in all fronts:

At the UN many meetings do take place and lets see the outcome given the many and perplexed issues taking place there and in many countries all over Planet Ocean: Migrants, BREXIT, Iran – Hormuz, Saudi Arabia hinting reprisals against Iran, the entire faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses down to the Horn of Africa with four focal points: The Balkans, the East Med and the Aegean with Turkey pestering all its neighbours, Israel with Benjamin Netanyahu trying to form a government following  inconclusive elections an issue which will affect once again the Arab-Israeli conflict…

At the other side of the Atlantic president Trump’s impeachment sounds strange and let’s see if this becomes a boomerang for the Democrats. Watch this space!

The Trade Wars continue; good to see though a deal between the USA and Japan…

Venezuela still in a great mess and Argentina struggling financially to survive…

Brazil’s mess with the Amazon fires and many more issues has to be contained; the explosion there will be monumental…

Lifelines’s Captain’s Dinner; a full house at the YCG

On another tone and note the Lifelines’ Captain’s Dinner at the Yacht Club of Greece unique premices overlooking the plain of Faleron Bay and Athens with the best weather conditions for this time of the year, in support of the state hospitals in Greece, was more than a success with nearly 200 members, guests and friends of this noble cause charity attending. Who wasn’t there, with the shipping fraternity headed by John Sahinis, Irene S. Daifas and Stella-Alexia Mantzaris forming the biggest group in comparison with previous events representing all sectors with WISTA Hellas and Propeller Club members there too; will revert soon with a write-up and pictures. Greece’s minister for Tourism Harry Theocharis was there too. HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, patron of Lifeline and Lifeline’s Hellas, president Dr. Zisis Boukouvalas and their teams did an excellent job – as always, in seeing that this event was a success to all of its intents and purposes!
