Cyclone Amphan intensifying
Sunday, May 17, 2020, Bay of Bengal, India

The depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal which intensified into a Cyclonic Storm yesterday (16 May), is likely to bring heavy to very heavy rain in the coastal districts from Tuesday, 19 May.

Cyclonic Storm Amphan has intensified into a cyclonic storm and is located at about 1040 km south of Paradip and 1200 km southwest of Digha in West Bengal.

The system is likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by this evening and move north-northwestwards, then recurve north-northeastwards thereafter towards West Bengal coast from 18 to 20 May.
