Myron Phoebus Ampatzis, A very promising young Greek composer

Myron Phoebus Abatzis

Α generation of young composers are challenging its traditional boundaries bringing new life to music, with a sound that is at once both familiar and new and extremely original. Myron Phoebus Ampatzis’ music is wholly open to many different influences and he is a soul with a true passion for music in all forms.

Born in Athens in 1992, Myron Phoebus Ampatzis was educated primarily with private music lessons on Harmony and Counterpoint by Ilias Nikolaidis. Later at the Conservatory of Music of Paleo Faliro he studied piano, Fugue and orchestration under acclaimed musician and piano soloist Demetris Koukos. Invested in creating a sound that is at once both intricate and simple, classical and progressive, Myron melds, as seen in his 2016 composition “Nostimon emar” (trio for piano, violin, cello) which is performed as the synthesis of a young talent, at the Megaron -The Athens Concert Hall and at the Queen Amalia Tower.

Outside of the classical music world, Myron has collaborated with Greek rock and metal bands as guitarist/composer and has contributed to the score of few short films as well.

Here it is his submission for Score Relief 2021, a charitable filmscoring contest organised by The Cue Tube
