Irene Rosberg’s message

On the 8th of March we celebrate International Women’s Day, a day for us to mark and recognize the achievements of all women and their contribution in all aspects of society, business, culture and politics.  This is an important day for all of us, not only women, but all who believe in women’s’ rights and a gender equal world which brings diversity, equality and inclusion, where diversity is to be celebrated and not discriminated against.  Today we celebrate how far we have come since the idea was put forward by Clara Zetkin in 1910 at the International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen.  We also recognize the journey is not over and we have a long way to go to reach ultimate equality for all women in all corners of the world.  Although the journey seems to be exhausting at times, every step forward is truly remarkable and rewarding.

On behalf of M-NOW (Maritime Network of Women) in Copenhagen, I like to take this opportunity to congratulate the women in the maritime industry for their tireless work towards the admirable goal of reaching gender equality.
