Reference is made to Eagle Ocean Marine (EOM) Circular of December 10, 2021, Steel Pre-Load Surveys: An Update. Insureds are reminded that, in regard to vessels loading steel cargoes:
1. pre-load surveys must be arranged; 2. EOM must be contacted in advance to assist in the pre-load survey arrangements; and 3. surveyors to be employed must be approved in advance by EOM.
It appears that some Insureds have been electing to go through the network of EOM correspondents to select the surveyor for the steel pre-load surveys even in areas which are sufficiently covered by EOM approved surveyors. Insureds should kindly note that correspondents are not necessarily EOM approved surveyors for steel preload surveys.
Failure to complete a steel pre-load survey as highlighted above will prejudice the Insured’s coverage for any cargo claims that are asserted against it and its vessel in connection with the subject shipment(s).
Insureds are urged to ensure that they fully comply with this steel pre-load survey requirement and all other related conditions as may apply to an individual vessel’s terms of entry.
