The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) in the UK & Ireland was voted as the Tourist Board Partner of the Year 2023 by members of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), consisting of high-standard independent and specialized holiday companies from the UK.
In the respective vote, the Spanish Tourism Organisation Turespaña took second place, followed by the Portuguese Turismo de Portugal.
The presentation ceremony of the annual AITO Awards took place in London on Thursday, April 18, during the annual General Assembly of AITO-The Specialist Travel Association, with the participation of 100 representatives. The award was received by the head of GNTO UK & Ireland, Eleni Skarveli, who also represented GNTO in the assembly proceedings.
GNTO UK & Ireland’s office has developed excellent cooperation with AITO in recent years, especially in the post-COVID period, particularly in the areas of sustainability, networking, and partnerships with AITO members. It is worth noting that in November 2023, with the support of GNTO, the Region of Central Macedonia, the Thessaloniki Promotion Organisation, and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), the annual overseas conference of AITO was held in Thessaloniki, attended by 120 delegates and some of the UK’s top travel journalists.
