The IMO has adopted Res. MEPC.405(83) – “Amendments to the 2023 Guidelines for the development of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials”

These amendments clarify the threshold values of Cybutryne in Anti-fouling system samples taken either from wet paint containers or taken directly from the hull.

This Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) resolution amended the Appendix 6 (Form of Material Declaration) by replacing the threshold value of 1000 mg/kg of the Anti-fouling systems containing Cybutryne with a value of 200 mg/kg.

Such threshold value is based on Appendix I of the 2022 Guidelines for survey and certification of anti-fouling systems on ships (Res. MEPC.358(78)).

Ships already holding an IHM Manual Part I:Persons responsible for the IHM maintenance are requested to confirm that the Material Declarations (MD) prepared on or after 26 June 2025 (i.e. for new coatings) are based on the new format as per MEPC.405(83).LR surveyors will confirm that the format of the MD prepared on or after 26 June 2025 is based on the new format as per MEPC.405(83).New Ships:Shipyards and suppliers are requested to prepare the MD using the new format as per MEPC.405(83).For further information
