
The 9th Hellenic-British Symposium concluded in Cambridge: “Greece and the United Kingdom – Partners in an Age of Uncertainty”
Consistent with its annual presence as an informal but substantive forum for dialogue between Greece and the United Kingdom, the 9th Hellenic-British Symposium took place this year from 9 to 11 October 2025, on the historic campus of Cambridge.
With thematic axis “Greece and the United Kingdom – Partners in an Age of Uncertainty”, the Symposium hosted high-level discussions on issues shaping the European and international environment, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Over the course of three days, more than 30 politicians, businesspeople and experts from Greece and the United Kingdom participated and exchanged views in constructive discussions on defense cooperation, innovation in health technologies and the energy transition. Through their interventions, they explored ways to strengthen Greek-British relations and cooperation in view of the major global changes of our time.
The main program of the Symposium was divided into four thematic sections with an equal number of panel discussions:
- Multivariate Geoeconomic and Political Developments
- Towards a European Defense Industry
- Innovation in Health Technologies
- Investing in New Energy

The keynote speaker at the Symposium was the Minister of National Defense of Greece, Nikos Dendias (pictured above), while the proceedings were opened with greetings by the Ambassador of Greece to the United Kingdom, Yiannis Tsaousis, and the Co-Chair of the Symposium, Costas Mitropoulos.

On the third and final day, the opening address was delivered by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Greece, Matthew Lodge , while Greek MP Angelos Syrigos delivered the Symposium Speech. The event concluded with closing remarks by Alberto Costa , Member of Parliament and President of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Greece ( APPG) Greece ) in the British Parliament, Christos Staikouras, MP and Chairman of the Greece-UK Friendship Group in the Hellenic Parliament and Lord Maude of Horsham , Co-Chair of the Hellenic-British Symposium and Member of the House of Lords.

The Greek-British Symposium is a private initiative, guided by a Coordinating Committee and organized by the Delphi Economic Forum ( DEF ), with the support of the Embassy of Greece in London, the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Athens and the British Council.
