CORE POWER attended the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE) in Paris – the world’s leading civil nuclear event, bringing together more than 25,000 participants across the nuclear industry.

The programme highlighted the industry’s growing momentum and the responsibility to deliver clean, affordable energy at scale with strong focus on project delivery, financing, standardisation and new business models for advanced reactors.

Discussions on industrial heat, district energy and SMRs underscored the rising demand for nuclear solutions beyond electricity, while a first-of-its-kind panel on nuclear for maritime demonstrated the sector’s increasing interest in clean, reliable propulsion and floating power.

Across the week, one message was clear: nuclear will play a central role in meeting future global energy demand. From industrial processes to maritime propulsion, floating nuclear power plants offer a uniquely scalable pathway to deliver firm, affordable energy where it’s needed most.

CONVOY Event #5: Round-Up

Thank you to everyone who joined us for CONVOY #5. We’re pleased to share that the individual presentation sessions and the full audience Q&A is now accessible on our website.

One interesting question that came up during the event was: “ABS released some guidance recently on FNPPs that introduced the concept of the ‘Interface Document’, and I wondered if you could expand on that for a moment?”

CONVOY #6: Workforce and Supply Chain Development – coming soon

Our next CONVOY session will explore how the sector can attract and retain talent, strengthen technical training and optimise supply chains to meet the demands of rapid growth. Speakers will discuss the challenges, opportunities, and collaborative strategies driving a skilled and sustainable nuclear workforce.

All members will be pre-registered, and we’ll share event details shortly.

Take a look at this week’s latest additions:

We are excited to announce that the second batch of panel videos from ARGO: New Nuclear for Greek Maritime 2025 are now available on our YouTube channel.

The future of maritime energy

In this keynote from ARGO: New Nuclear for Greek Maritime, Chris Wiernicki, Chairman and CEO of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), explored how advanced nuclear technologies are moving from long-term ambition to near-term commercial reality.

He described nuclear propulsion as a “legitimate, practical and scalable solution” with the potential to deliver unmatched energy density, reliability and strategic resilience across the maritime sector.

Wiernicki outlined how floating nuclear power plants could transform adjacent industries — from offshore data centres and hydrogen production to desalination and port infrastructure — and urged industry to shift from concept to coordinated deployment.

Regulatory Readiness for Maritime Nuclear

In this ARGO session, Unni Einemo, CORE POWER’s Marine Regulations Lead, explores what it will take to align nuclear, maritime and environmental regulation for the safe, scalable deployment of nuclear at sea.

She outlines the fast-growing global energy demand and the regulatory landscape shaping nuclear-powered vessels and floating power platforms — from licensing pathways to flag-state responsibilities and international oversight.

Einemo highlights how nuclear propulsion could unlock both regulatory compliance and commercial advantages, provided regulators, industry and governments work together to build confidence for first-of-a-kind projects.
