NOVEMBER 24, 2025 US COAST GUARD (USCG) MARINE SAFETY ALERT: RISK OF PROPULSION LOSS FROM MATERIAL FAILURE OF MAIN ENGINE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLER WELD
Members are recommended to: – inspect EGR coolers on their engines for signs of failure as described in the Alert; – conduct the inspections regularly, including prior to and entering or leaving port; and – ensure that procedures for regular inspection of EGR coolers are incorporated into the safety management system, if applicable.
It is recommended that Members take note of this information and be guided accordingly.
