A wonderful milestone today with the Grand Opening of the new building for the first State-maintained secondary school for the Greek Orthodox faith, St Andrew the Apostle.

This very special new building is named in honour of our founding Chair, Yiannis Pareas the driving force behind the creation of the school, who sadly passed away during Covid. His vision, together with that of the former Archbishop Grigorios, made this school possible. It was deeply moving to see his contribution recognised in such a way.

We were honoured to mark this day alongside so many distinguished guests : including the Secretary of State for Education, Members of Parliament, Bishop Ioakovos, the Cyprus High Commissioner, the Greek Ambassador, and the Mayor of Barnet.

As one of the founding governors, together with my wife Maria, I couldn’t be prouder of this outstanding school and its truly first-class facilities.

If you do one thing, scroll down and listen to the Head Girl, Katerina, and Gabby from Year 7. Their eloquence, confidence and pride in their school say everything about what has been achieved here.

A very special day.
