ONE MILLION BOTTLES
Plastic pollution remains one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. Single-use plastics such as bottles, wrappers, and cigarette butt are the most commonly found litter on beaches worldwide.
Through our BinForGreenSeas initiative, GreenSeas Trust is turning action into impact. In 2025 more than 1 million plastic bottles were collected in our 23 strategically placed bins, helping protect our coastlines and marine life.
HERO OF THE WEEK
Our founder, Fazilette Khan MBE, was named ‘Hero of the Week’ on Channel 5 News.
Fazilette’s story of her career at sea is the backdrop of why she set up GreenSeas Trust. It is a reminder to everyone, that individuals can make big changes when they set their mind to it.
NEW LOOK

In 2025, the BinForGreenSeas received a bold new look. We simplified and strengthened our message to clearly reflect our mission: protecting our oceans. The refreshed signature design was tweaked to make it more powerful than ever at communicating the purpose of our charity and inspiring action where it matters most.
5 NEW BINSFORGREENSEAS

Taking BinForGreenSeas Global
GreenSeas Trust expanded its sustainability mission beyond borders, unveiling new BinsForGreenSeas in both the UK and Qatar.
Three bilingual bins were installed at the marinas of Pearl Island, Qatar—just 350 metres offshore from Doha’s West Bay. Set within a world-class yachting and tourism destination, these bins carry our ocean-protection message onto a truly global stage.

Inspiring Action at Home
Back in the UK, our Margate BinForGreenSeas was unveiled on 8 May 2025 under clear blue skies, with the Mayor of Margate and council officers in attendance. Showcasing strong local leadership and community support.
At Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf, our striking new bin was launched beside the iconic 12-metre whale sculpture, a powerful visual reminder of the global impact of marine plastic pollution and the urgent need for change.

#BUTTSINBOTTLES

Turning Litter into Action
We launched a fun, hands-on competition inviting schools and community groups to collect as many cigarette butts as possible – the response was inspiring.

Winners: South Shields Marine School
In early May, pre-cadets from the school took to Sandhaven Beach for our ButtsInBottles challenge. After just a few hours of beach exploration, the students managed to collect an impressive 2 x 1 litre bottles of cigarette butts!
ECO-EDUCATION

We continued our mission to educate the next generation of ocean ambassadors at Hallfield Primary School in London.
The workshops explored the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and encouraged students to think of ways they could make a difference to limit plastic pollution.
They also learned about the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and why each plays a vital role in protecting our planet.
AWARDS

Our founder, Fazilette Khan (MNM), has been awarded an MBE (Member of the British Empire) in the King’s Birthday Honours list for services to marine conservation. This accolade reflects the exemplary work she does to protect our oceans.
