Incident Report 2 : KLPL-owned Dry Bulk Carrier “DEVON BAY”
“K” Line Pte Ltd (‘KLPL’) , a Singapore-based subsidiary wholly owned by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha,
Ltd. (“K” LINE), confirms that its vessel, “DEVON BAY” (IMO: 9622849) is the subject of an
ongoing search and rescue operation after a distress call was issued from the vessel on the night
of 22 January 2026, during the vessel’s passage to Yangjiang, China from Zamboanga, the
Philippines.
Search and rescue operations for the four remaining crew members continue under the close
co-ordination of the relevant maritime authorities. To-date, 15 crew members have been
successfully rescued. Sadly, two crew members have passed on, and our deepest condolences
remain with the families and loved ones of our fallen crew members.
We are grateful to the China Coast Guard, the Philippine Coast Guard, the co-ordinating rescue
centres, and all assisting vessels and crew, including vessels from the Group’s fleet that
responded in support of the search and rescue efforts.
The rescued crew and their fallen crew members, have been safely handed over to the Philippine
Coast Guard, and arrangements are being made to support their onward return home.
We are working closely with the relevant authorities and the ship manager to ensure that the
crew members receive appropriate care and support, and to facilitate their reunion with their
families and loved ones.
