2. Background Information
- The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has announced a public consultation on the draft opinion of its Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) on the proposed EU-wide restriction of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
- The SEAC draft opinion on the PFAS restriction proposal will cover the evaluation of the socio-economic aspects of the proposed restrictions, including the availability of alternative substances and technologies.
- The consultation will begin after the ECHA 03.2026 meeting and remain open for 60 days, during which stakeholders, e.g. ITCO, can provide feedback.

3. ITCO Technical Guidance Document “TG-09 PFAS Case Study”
- In response to the initial ECHA proposal in 2024, the ITCO’s Technical Guidance Document TG-09 provided an overview of the proposed regulations restricting the use of fluoropolymers (eg PTFE) used for seals and gaskets and the consequences for the tank intermodal Industry.
- ITCO TG-09 formed the basis to ITCO’s 2024 submission to the ECHA public consultation.

4. Presenter/Panellist Opportunities
This webinar is an Open Forum, chaired by ITCO, during which participants can discuss and propose issues relevant for inclusion in the drafting of COA submission to the SEAC public consultation, commencing in March 2026.
