London International Shipping Week 2021 | Latest news

The 12-month countdown to what promises to be the largest and most important London International Shipping Week to date, has started with the virtual launch of the event that brought together HRH The Princess Royal, as well as political figures and industry leaders from the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Over 800 delegates attending the launch were told that London International Shipping Week 2021 (LISW21) will progress on its charge of propelling world trade with an exploration of its overarching theme of ‘Driving growth and recovery in a disrupted world’.

The key drivers of Trade, Finance, Technology and People will be evident throughout the week’s events, including the headline LISW21 Conference, backed up by the important principles of Environment, Social, and Governance.

The virtual presentation included filmed contributions from Princess Anne as well as Grant Shapps, UK Secretary of State for Transport and Robert Courts MP, UK Maritime Minister.

For the first time ever, LISW21 will be both face-to-face and virtual, opening its doors to thousands of visitors who are expected to attend the physical events during the week while also utilising online conferencing technology to open up LISW21 to an even wider and more varied global audience. Operating as a hybrid event, combining the best in class of physical and virtual experiences, LISW21 expects to draw not only the thousands of visitors to London who joined us in 2019, but also thousands more online who may be otherwise prohibited from attending in person by resource or distance.

Speaking at the virtual launch of LISW21, Robert Courts, UK Maritime Minister, said: “Our world-leading maritime sector is crucial to the economic success of the UK, especially as we build back from COVID-19.

 LISW21 TO GO HYBRID

The global shipping industry must-attend event is to combine the best that is ‘in person’ with the best that virtual technology can offer when it kicks off in September next year.

LISW21 will tap into the digital age in a big way and offer both virtual and face-to-face event options when the show comes to London in 2021.

Event organisers will be able to enjoy similar physical footfalls to that seen in LISW19, while inviting a far larger international audience to access the myriad LISW21 events from the comfort of their own offices.
