Wed 31 Oct 2012 -Lloyd’s has today announced the appointment of Andy Haste as Senior Independent Deputy Chairman on the Council of Lloyd’s. Mr Haste, whose three-year term starts on 1 November 2012, has more than 30 years of international financial services experience gained in number of global financial institutions.
Mr Haste was Group CEO of RSA Insurance Group between 2003 and 2011 and prior to that was CEO at AXA Sun Life. Mr Haste succeeds Deputy Chairman Dr Andreas Prindl CBE, who is retiring.
Lloyd’s Chairman John Nelson said: “I am delighted that Andy will be joining the Council of Lloyd’s. He is a highly-regarded leader in the UK insurance industry and his extensive experience in international financial services will be immensely valuable to Lloyd’s.”

In Vision 2025, Lloyd’s has an exciting strategy for extending its brand in new international markets. I look forward to helping Lloyd’s position itself as the global centre for specialist insurance and reinsurance.
Mr Haste’s appointment has been approved by the FSA.
Andy Haste biography Andy Haste is an experienced FTSE 100 CEO with more than 30 years diversified international experience in financial services. Andy joined the Board of RSA as Group Chief Executive in April 2003 and was a member of the Group Executive Team, Investment Committee and Board Risk Committee. Previous roles include Chief Executive of AXA Sun Life plc. and Director of AXA UK plc. (life and pensions), President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Consumer Finance Europe at GE Capital UK, Western Europe and Eastern Europe (consumer financial services) and President of National Westminster Bank’s US Consumer Credit Business (retail banking). He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of ITV plc. in August 2008 and was a member of the Board of the Association of British Insurers from 2003-11.
Council of Lloyd’s The Council of Lloyd’s is the body responsible for the management and supervision of the Lloyd’s market. The Council normally has six working, six external and six nominated members. The Chairman and Deputy Chairmen are elected annually by the Council from among its members. The Council can discharge some of its functions directly by making decisions and issuing resolutions, requirements, rules and byelaws.
