NAMEPA gains new member as it continues global growth and collaboration furthering the common goal to “Save Our Seas”

May 20, 2015 – Carleen Lyden-Kluss, Co-Founder and Executive Director of North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) announced today that ClassNK has joined NAMEPA as a new member. NAMEPA welcomes ClassNK as it looks to expand the portal to “Save Our Seas”.

“ClassNK focuses on promoting sound environmental practices and demonstrates this desire through joining NAMEPA”, stated NAMEPA’s Carleen Lyden-Kluss. “The continued growth and membership diversity across the industry enables NAMEPA to extend our reach in collaborating on new strategies to protect the marine environment. Our organizations are committed to the stewardship and protection of our seas through corporate social responsibility and public education about protecting this important global resource.”

Ms. Lyden-Kluss remarked, “NAMEPA is honored to welcome as a new member Class NK- a highly respected marine industry organization dedicated to the highest level of corporate responsibility. The continued efforts by NAMEPA and its members to reach shared goals and to create a stronger voice for safety as sea and marine environment protection through education and collaboration on global and local levels will bring to fruition the increased awareness of protecting our most valuable resource, our oceans.”

ClassNK is dedicated to ensuring the safety of life and property at sea, and the prevention of pollution of the marine environment. To achieve this mission ClassNK will: Focus on delivering the highest quality classification services, by the highest quality personnel, while maintaining its totally independent third party, non-profit status. Focus on the development of relevant Rules procedures and guidance, and maintain and develop its commitment to scientific and technological research and development. Maintain and develop its global operations in line with the needs of clients using its services. ClassNK has earned an outstanding reputation for its long-standing dedication to safeguarding life and property at sea and preventing marine pollution through the establishment of universally recognized standards for the design, construction and maintenance of ships and other marine structures.

NAMEPA is an independent, marine industry-led association which engages maritime businesses, government and the public to “Save our Seas” by promoting sound environmental practices.
