The annual meeting of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) took place this year at the Providence Conference Centre in Providence, Rhode Island between the 3rd ad 7th of November.
This year was glorious for Bureau Veritas, especially for its Piraeus office. Regional Chief Executive for the Hellenic and Black Sea Region Lambros Chahalis was elevated to the degree of Fellow of the Society.
This honor is awarded to SNAME members who contribute in the development of new ideas and technology, mentoring young engineers and enhance the SNAME ideals. Lambros, a founding member of the Greek Section, was unanimously elected to be a Fellow of SNAME.
On a second note his colleague John Kokarakis, chairman of the Greek Section, received with pride the Super Section Flag from the president of the Society. SNAME recognizes sections that achieve high standards, provide outstanding member services, and deliver professional opportunities to its members. During the last seven years, the Greek Section receives this award every year!
