The Epiphany is being celebrated annually around the world and in many countries is a public holiday. It symbolises not just Jesus’ baptism by St. John the Baptist, but also the visit of the three wise men when He was an infant.

Greece is the place as well as the entire Greek Orthodox World where not only the process of the Holy Epiphany of Our Lord is unique with pilgrims jumping to the water in ports, piers, canals, lakes, dams or at the sea to retrieve The Holy Cross, but also the begining of the Carnival (Apokreo). Same applies for other Christian NAtions with the Mardi Gras!

This year it was a very special one for the Orthodox Greeks as, except the celebrations in Greece, Cyprus and Constantinople (today Istanbul),  after 94 years the event took place in Smirni (Izmir – Central Western Turkey today) where hundreds gathered at the Quay – QUAI as it was then called,  and after 42 years in Famagusta (Ammochostos) on the island of Cyprus, a city still occupied  by Turkey since the invasion of 1974.

Many similar events take place around the world, particularly in Europe – Prague does the best event in central Europe, Warsaw too, and other places.

We bring you herebelow live, thanks to Konstantinos Milt. Anagnostou, the Epiphany from the island of Chios, the island which Rules the Waves on Planet Ocean, and in particular from the main port of the capital Chios – another panoramic video shooting!
