The BDI@730; an uplift (?) amid mega geopolitical mayhem…

What a week that was, eh! The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) gained 53 points earlier on today and 81 since last week’s 649! Geopolitics with the BREXIT saga enigmatically perplexed,  as well as with the unprecedented bankruptcy of Planet Ocean which is being governed by moron politicians, insufficient diplomats, business hooligans and their cronies, coupled with uncertainty leads to the continuation of regional wars, confrontations of any kind and hostilities as well as wars and hostilities to come and this creates a bleak environment which mighty affect shipping. You can see this from the results of the container trade John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recaps:

The Capes are back to its volatile environment following nearly two months of losses post the 25th of January Brumadinho damn collapse in Brazil which killed at least 157 people – still 182 are missing. The BCI gained 117 points since yesterday and now stands at 520 points! Rich pickings since last week with 285 points – from 235; what a proportional surge that was! In real terms though  we are still fa apart from the 2,500-3,000 points!!!

The Panamaxes’ BPI was up 42 points and now stand at 883; on a weekly basis though same was down 11 points – from 894…

Stagnation and losses for both the Supras and the Handies; the BSI remained stuck at 786 points and the BHSI was up three points at 437. On a weekly basis both were down four points – from 790 and 421 respectively!

The Wets with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 737 and 603 – minus three and  15 points respectively. On a weekly basis the Dirties were down ten points – from 747* and the Cleans were up 26 – from 577…

The WTI ended up at US$ 58.52 – 0.09 cents lower than yesterday. On a weekly basis same was up US$ 2.45 – from US$56.07. Ultra CAUTION should be observed!

The Geopolitical interest is focused on what will happen on the BREXIT saga; despite both sides playing it cool in reality the problems and the repercussions are incalculable. We repeat our question: “Whose really afraid from the BREXIT’s consequences? ”

All other issues we cover remain the same – MIGRANTS, WARS, Scandals with the addition of the atrocious incident in Christchurch – New Zealand. CAUTION!

Add the forthcoming European Union elections and see what you get! Can you imagine having British MEPs being elected?

Planet Ocean is on fire and the worst thing we all have to tackle is its bankruptcy  of  US$ 250 trillion… Wonder who can change this situation. SHAME to all leaders allowing this situation to happen; there is no excuse whatsoever!

On another note and tone our team in Panama made some important visits and tours which you can see before midnight in respective videos. All these Panamanian news are the preamble of the Panama Maritime 2019 Conference which kick-starts on Sunday the 17th of March at the Megapolis Convention Centre; stay tuned with us. Both tours were unique thanks to the Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP)!

The first video following our tour to Panama’s Presidential  Palace:

…and the second video from Cathedral Square

Have a nice evening, weekend and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean. Happy St. Patrick’s Day too!
