LR Invitation – IMO/MEPC 74 Update – 22 May 2019 @ Laskarides Foundation [16:00-18:30]
With the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee – MEPC 74 in mind – which took place on 13-17 May 2019, Lloyd’s Register’s Timothy Wilson, Principal Marine Consultant Engineer, FOBAS, will be bringing the latest developments/news in an interactive session on May 22nd :
“Now that MEPC 74 is over, next stop is 1 January 2020: It’s time to consolidate the outcomes together!”
A landmark decision to implement the 0.50% sulphur limit for marine fuels in use on ships operating outside sulphur emissions control area (ECA-SOx) from 1 January 2020 has set the industry focus on rigorously preparing for this game changing regulatory development.
Lloyd’s Register FOBAS as an active participant in the committees of ISO 8217,CIMAC and other high level industry bodies, with long experience on the subject of marine fuel quality aspects, is well positioned to provide sound guidance and highlight key technical aspects for a smooth transition.
During the session, the highlights and outcomes of MEPC 74 will be presented and preparation planning outcomes to-date will be discussed in an interactive Q&A session.
