Africa Blue Economy – WOC and German-African Business Day Collaborate

World Ocean Council and German-African Business Association Work Together to Advance the Blue Economy in Africa

Blue Economy for Africa’s Growth” is the focus of the German-African Business Association’s 6th German-African Business Day (13 June, Berlin), presented by Afrika-Verein, with WOC as a partner.

Business, government and civil society from Africa, Germany and Europe will discuss partnerships and investments to promote sustainable growth for the Blue Economy in Africa, including ports and shipping, fisheries and aquaculture, maritime transport, logistics and safety, and renewable energy, amongst others.

Event sessions under development include:

• European-African Cooperation and the Future of Maritime Security
• Financing Sources & Models in the Blue Economy
• What Kind of Industrial Revolution will Africa Experience in the Blue Economy?
• What are the Investment Opportunities for the Private Sector in the Blue Economy?

WOC CEO Paul Holthus will be speaking as part of an Expert Dialogue on “The Growing Importance of the Blue Economy”, with a focus on the opportunities and challenges for achieving a sustainable Blue Economy in Africa.
