MBS delivers humanitarian aid to Turkey earthquake victims

by admin

Cologne, 2 March 2023: MBS Logistics, an international logistics service provider headquartered in Cologne, is transporting urgently required relief supplies to the earthquake zone in Turkey. The first of four trucks organised by MBS arrived in Gaziosmanpaşa near Istanbul on 28 February 2023. The vehicle was primarily loaded with warm blankets, sleeping bags, fan heaters, radiators and drinking water. The items are donations from MBS customer CENTERSHOP Korn Vertriebs GmbH & Co. KG, a seasonal goods specialist based in Cologne.

After the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on 6 February 2023, numerous regions are still lacking necessities. For this reason, MBS sent its first tractor-trailer with 33 pallets of aid supplies to Gaziosmanpaşa. At the joint warehouse of the Turkish disaster control authority AFAD and the German Red Cross, the MBS’ sister company Mentfield Logistics Germany GmbH managed distribution to the crisis regions throughout Turkey through the help of its Turkish branch. With this approach, the relief goods can be made available to the people on the ground as quickly as possible.

“The destruction and suffering following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria is staggering,” shares Jürgen Steckel, Managing Director of MBS Logistics. “It is urgently necessary to continue sending relief supplies to the affected regions. Our hearts and thoughts are with the many people mourning the loss of their families, friends and livelihoods.”

In addition to the relief goods donated by CENTERSHOP, MBS is organising three other relief shipments for Turkey in conjunction with Mentfield, for which employees have donated a variety of supplies. “It is really inspiring to see how committed our team is to this relief action. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved,” shares Steckel.
