The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) was just one single point up since last Friday standing at 922 points due to the Capers and its respective BCI 2014 by 10 points – now down at 2,235 causing a bit of uneasiness for all…
The Panamaxes though returned to the plus modus with the BPI closing up a dozen points reaching the 729 point – not bad for the circumstances… CAUTION!
No change for the Supras’ BSI which remained at 677 points…
Minus one point for the Handies and its respective BHSI now at 410.
So the Markets are losing steam and nothing can be taken for granted! Be prepared as we have warned you for many surprises in all sectors of the Dry Markets… Never ever forget that we need to see the BDI above the end of December 2013 levels, that means at least 1,500 points plus!!! I am sure you all get the message. Wake up, things have changed; for a start chartering has changed, meaning the allocation of cargoes as the big boys get the business, round them AND turn them around so they get at least twice a double commission… We dead well know what we write. This is one more hint for all that shipping IS changing…
The Wets where both up; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) gained two and four points respectively now standing 621 and 354.
The price of WTI above the US$ 50 mark – US$ 51.35 to be precise and we shall see tomorrow the final closing. This rise as we have said creates other problems; profits for some in billions excessive losses for others and influencing the charters, charters of any kind…
The Energy issues are very delicate and can produce havoc. The latest EIRA report can open your eyes of what is happening!
On the box-trade: wonder what’s happening in the feeder sector…I don’t believe an iota that the solution rests in consolidation. The oxymoron here is to think IN the box!
Scrapping must accelerate at a rate of ten centum for at least five years if we want to catch up with better markets and also to see better tonnage (more double eco) come out from the ailing shipyards…
Imagine the alternative sources of energy gaining more ground; I strongly believe as all financial projects are being favoured at least in Europe! They are more than financeable!
I am a bit sceptical on the Liner trade…
On the Geopolitical front now:
MIGRANTS inflow is being slowly slowly increased. Despite all that Naval presence in the Aegean see in particular more desperate people cross over with the support of the Turkish traffickers as the Turkish Authorities continue to keep a blind eye.- From the North African coast, especially from |Libya the MIGRANTS exodus to south of central Europe continues. In both fronts there isn’t neither a mandate to stop the flow nor the organisational skills to perform same; shame!
Turkey’s blackmail continues…
The carnage in Syria continue from all side, we must state this. Wonder where is the statesmanship that today’s leaders suppose have! Mr. Obama the end of your presidency is about to be marred by the Syrian saga; you still have the time to saw that you care and that as a lawyer you can strike a deal in favour of all, the children in particular…Mr. Putin what happen to your skills in striking a peace deal there. Make it a square deal! Where is both yours and Mr. Obama’s will!
In Greece the situation is about to explode in many fronts. CAUTION as this will backfire… In the Greek Parliament what takes place must prompt the Attorney-general in Greece and send all Political leaders behind the bars; this is NOT the Parliament one wishes to see under the circumstances. This is NOT the ethics we watched in the debate earlier today…
No one has the right to strangulate the Greek People, either from within or outside! We reiterate our view for an ARISTOS Government – see our previous reporting on the issue. The rest is pure nonsense!
In the meantime Turkey continues to violate not only Greece’s Airspace, but its territorial waters with submarines dangerous manoeuvring there… NATO has an issue and same must be rectified before it is too late! Turkey blackmails all and facilitates all for the shake of her Nationalists and Islamists expansionist plans. Greeks know very well the story and history of how their neighbours behave. Add the untrusted Russians and see what you get. Today Putin and Erdogan signed the deal for the TurkStream which replaces the Southern Stream… A flash-back in history will explain you all what another Vladimir did. Vladimir Lenin betrayed the Greeks and sided with Kemal Ataturk during the advance of the Greek Army in Minor Asia, fearing that a Greece controlling the straits of Bosporus will shut him out… NATO should be more than alarmed with this anomaly; Turkey a NATO member in full military cooperation with Russia??? Turkey a NATO member in full business support for the oil and gas with Russia??? Wake up! I wonder what Mrs. Clinton has in mind…
Russia shows its teeth in the Baltic and North Sea by any means you can imagine; be it nuclear missiles, airforce incursions, submarines (a three year tension with Sweden, remember etc etc) and many other unorthodox methods bullying everybody, even the Brits by threatening the United Kingdom’s Airspace. Kaliningrad is ready to strike… The Poles are about to seat on the …pole… The Finnish too but they did counter. The French are “showing their teeth” demanding Russia seats on the dock at the ICC, but all is politically motivated…the famous French way… All play behind our backs, but… Indeed there is a hidden but…
BREXIT sends shivers worldwide. A week pound, even to levels never witnessed before: less than a Pound the Euro in some airports today. We reiterate that under the prevailing circumstances and German dominated Europe, the Migrants and many other issues, it a blessing to have a BREXIT! Again, let’s face it; all divorces are difficult, but at the end of the day, one day you will see “how living well is the best revenge” (English saying)… Not goo performance for the Eurotunnel; earnings down due to terrorism and a slumping pound it was revealed earlier on today… Don’t worry as Christmas is coming up to balance the fall!
At the other side of the Atlantic yet another debate went in favour of Mrs. Clinton… Let’s hope the best from these two strange and odd people will win, and looks to be Mrs. Clinton – it’s not yet the end… On the …flip side we witnessed, following Mrs. Clinton win, a boost to the USDollar!
In the meantime Hurricane Matthew creates more hell particularly in North Carolina; even cannonballs from the american Civil War were unearthed… Worries over Bermuda as Tropical Storm Nicole might strike there later in the week…
Terrorists continue to bother the European Authorities in Germany, Belgium, France… get them before they strike again! Above all pin down ISIS here and now; no excuses for this delay…
